There were 593 million connected wearable devices in 2018. That number is set to reach 929 million by 2021.
Right now, big names like Fitbit, Garmin, and Apple dominate the market. But some of the less expensive versions seem to offer the same features. Some have excellent reviews and rankings.
The Wesoo K1 fitness watch retails for $30. A Fitbit, on the other hand, can go for $150 easily.
Read on for a full review of the Wesoo K1 fitness tracker to know if this is a good choice for you.
Wesoo K1 Fitness Watch
The Wesoo K1 fitness watch is an all-in-one activity tracker.
It will track your workouts by distance, speed, and calories burned. Wear it to bed and let it monitor how you are sleeping.
It will count your steps accurately throughout the day. It can also monitor your sleep patterns, and double as a pedometer, accurately tracking steps throughout the entire day.
Below we will walk you through the various features, specs, reviews and more.
Wesoo K1 Fitness Watch System Requirements
The Wesoo K1 app connects to both Android and Apple devices. However, they do need to be fairly new.
You will need an iOS 9 or above and an Android phone that supports Bluetooth 4.0. or above to use the Wesoo K1 app.
In the box of a brand-new Wesoo K1, you’ll get a blue or purple replacement strap, a 2 years warranty card, and a quick start guide that will teach you how to use the fitness tracker.
IPX 7 Waterproof
Water resistant is different than waterproof. There are different “levels” of water resistance for Bluetooth devices. The ratings go from 0 to 8. You need a fitness tracker with a decent score because you need to be able to wear it all the time.
The Westoo K1 has a waterproof rating of IPX 7. This makes it waterproof by definition, not just water resistant.
You can wear it in the shower or on a rainy jog. You can have a super soaker backyard fight with your kids without taking your fitness tracker off.
It can even handle being dropped in shallow water (up to 3 feet deep).
For $30, this high a rating of waterproofing is pretty impressive.
Charging Without a Cable
One of the coolest features of the Wesoo K1 is its ability to charge without a cable.
When you pop the Wesoo K1 out of the band, you will see a built-in USB end on the tracker. This lets you plug the tracker directly into your computer, wall outlet, or even a power bank.
No charging cable needed! This is awesome because a) you probably have more cables than you care to have cluttering your space, and b) you won’t lose the cable and not be able to charge the device.
This is a sweet feature for such an inexpensive fitness tracker.
Monitor Your Sleep
The Wesoo K1 fitness watch automatically monitors how long and how well you sleep at night.
Have you ever wondered how this is possible? Well, that small device is worn on the wrist tracks movement while you’re sleeping. It can tell when you roll over, sit up, scratch, and so on.
Software in the device translates those movements into periods of sleep and wake. This is called actigraphy.
Experts agree that you can trust the data on your fitness watch to tell you about your sleep patterns. However, if you have (or think you have) a sleep disorder, it’s not a good idea to trust actigraphy.
In that case, you should consult a sleep clinic to get a proper sleep analysis. This PSG test uses electrodes that monitor your brain waves.
In general, though, the sleep tracking feature on a fitness device gives you a good overview of how much sleep you are getting.
Track your Workouts
WIth the Wesoo K1, you can expect decent tracking of steps and calories burned. However, static machines at the gym might not register on your device.
If you are a hard-core athlete that needs minute details, you will need a heart-rate sensing tech. This is not it.
However, as a starter fitness device and step tracker, it’s pretty good.
The sensors in the device measure movement and will extrapolate that data to give you the distance you’ve walked, jogged or hiked.
Some people complain that the Wesoo K1 is not accurate. But look at it this way. If on Monday it says you walked 5 miles, aim for at least that the rest of the week.
Or if it tells you that you were active for 75 minutes. Go for 80 the next day.
So what if the fitness watch’s 5 miles is actually 4.2 miles? If you use it as a gauge to improve or keep consistent movement, you can’t go wrong.

Like many fitness trackers, the Wesoo K1 will give you a little nudge if you have been sitting still too long.
This is like having a personal health assistant with you 24/7. Extensive sitting is bad for your health and can lead to death. You should take a stand up break every 30 minutes.
A little ping every so often to remind you to get up, walk around, stretch and take your eyes away from the computer screen is a great feature. It may be worth the cost for this one feature alone as this can greatly reduce our risk of dying prematurely.
Like a Watch – Only Better
Unlike our parent’s generation, many adults no longer wear wristwatches. We can now tell the date and time from cell phones, computers, laptops, tablets, and so on. Watches have become somewhat redundant.
However, it’s not always convenient to carry your phone around and it can be rude to check it when in the middle of a discussion or in a meeting.
The Wesoo K1 lets you have the benefits of a watch by showing you the date and time in nice, large, easy-to-read numerals on the face.
But unlike a traditional watch, the Wesoo K1 does much more than tell you the time.
